Gulf Shores Day 5 - USS Alabama (Father’s Day)

Sunday, we got up & loaded and had to be out of the condo by 10. We headed north out of Gulf Shores on hwy 59. IF you plan to leave Gulf Shores on a Sunday at 10 when everyone on the beach has to be out of the condo at the same time… Don’t. Take a different route, or stop and eat breakfast somewhere! It took an hour to go what should have taken about 20 minutes! Crazy traffic!

For Father’s Day, I made Kendall a desktop calendar with pics of the kids (& Lily of course!). I also made him a photo card from each kid:

Garrett’s was signed from “Your little bitty buddy, Garrett Lynn”, after a song that Daddeo sings to him.

Gina’s…

And the inside of Gina’s..  Hers was signed from “Gina Barrina”.

vpy=3

Chris’s… from “C-dog the Destroyer”.

And this is the card that the kids gave to Papah & Poppa…

We stopped in Mobile to visit the USS Alabama. And while driving in, Garrett asked a hundred questions… “Daddy, can I go on da ship? Daddy, can I drive the army tank? Can I get on da plane? Can I get on da tank? Can I get on da boat?”. For the love… (and might I add, Garrett just sat down next to me as I’m typing and said “hey, there’s me in my pirate shirt ringing dat bell! hey, where’s my pirate shirt???” ugh. he wants to wear it every single day.)

Sailor Gina!

Family shot! Funny… whenever we have traveled with Kali, people always call me her mom. Which I honestly don’t mind. I’d take her in a second. But we both have brown hair and blue eyes, so she looks more like my kid than Garrett!

The boat. It was a hot one out there. Definitely upper 90’s. But up the ramp we went!

Gunner Garrett!

Cautious Daddeo knows his boy… see the death grip he has on his arm!?

Kendall, Poppa, Kali, & Garrett took the walking tour (no tour guide, you just follow these arrows, reading along the way), and apparently, Garrett took a pretty awesome tumble down some stairs! That’s my boy! (he was fine other than a few scrapes and bruises) But, while they did that, Nanny, Gina & I found “the lounge”, and it was blowing a whole lotta cool air. It was hilarious to listen to people as they walked in… “ahhh, now this is the place to be!”!!

Garrett found the port hole! (that’s what that’s called, right?)

And back down the ramp to the airplane museum.

They had some really neat pictures showing how this place was damaged during Hurricane Katrina. Planes all rammed into each other, on their sides, on top of each other. Standing water everywhere, and all the exhibits ruined. But they have definitely got it back to showroom quality now!

Back to the “can I get in da tank, daddy? can I? Pleeeeeaaaasssse?”.

Garrett with the fishing game his daddy was suckered into buying for him. Please note that this is not a game I would have bought for a van ride, but daddy is a bit of a sucker these days. That’ll wear off.
