It is already Mother’s Day… Man, this year is FLYING by. I need a pause button for a few days so I can catch my breath.
We had a pretty awesome day today. In fact, while I was putting Garrett to bed, he asked how my Mother’s Day was. Seriously, my 5 year old asked that. I told him it was actually the best one I’d ever had! He giggled so loud and said “really?”. Yep. Really. I think that sweet fella asked me at least a dozen times if I was having a great Mother’s Day today!
We got out in the yard around 11 or 12 and played some soccer…
Nanny & Poppa stopped by for a few minutes, and Poppa fixed up Garrett’s Spongebob fishing pole and he got to practice throwing it out in the yard (it was just the little pink plastic bobber thing that looks like a jellyfish).
That was the first time he got it stuck in the tree… Haha!
Different tree and it’s stuck again! Daddy had to help with this one…
See it hanging there?
And then Daddy had to actually bring out the ladder to unwrap the bobber from the limb!
This girl was enjoying laying around in her stroller. She asked to get it out of the van, then proceeded to go inside & get a blanket & just relaxed for a bit while we all visited!
After getting it hung too many times in the trees, we put some water in a bucket and moved him away from anything he could get it hooked on!
Little Sister took a turn…
… so Garrett went over to attempt to climb a tree… any tree… he could fine. He would walk from tree to tree & try to climb. No go, though. He couldn’t find any that were climbable.
Next activity was some ball practice!
I pitched to Kendall, then he pitched to me… And then Kendall wanted to pitch to Garrett to see if he could hit a pitched ball (& not just one off the tee). He hit about 80-85% of the balls pitched at him. Daddy & I were beyond impressed!
And his face shows that he was having fun at it!
This, though, doesn’t look like it’s having as much fun, huh? At age 9 1/2, Lily is still quite the flight risk. So, we tied her to the big tree and she laid in the shade. Despite the look on her face, she enjoyed it! Her nose was working overtime smelling all the outside smells!
We got around about 3 and headed downtown to La Huerta to eat outside! Garrett told us several times that this is now his new favorite restaurant (I kept telling him he’s been there before, twice, but he didn’t remember). About half the outside tables had people at them, and these two were having fun on the stage. No one was watching them, which made me happy… as if them playing around wasn’t even out of the normal!
My & my 1st born…
Jump…
Jump again…
We took off on a walk to the Bass Reeves statue.
And decided to keep walking into the National Park. It had this old covered wagon that said “US” on it, I’m assuming it was a mail carrier, maybe? I just saw the wagon wheel, and began singing “Rock me momma like a wagon wheel… rock me momma any way you feel… heeeeey, momma rock me”. So I chose that as the place for my pic with my two sweet G’s. Kendall took about 20 and this was my favorite. And also the only one where all 3 faces are looking at the camera!
There are canons…
Garrett is “shooting it” and Gina is doing the “BOOOOOM” sound effects and showing us how the bomb would fly. Haha!
We went into the museum, which is located in the Barracks-Courthouse-Jail that was completed in 1846.
I saw this sign and KNEW I needed a pic of these two crazies in front of it… I told them to look mean and I got these faces!
This is the jail cell… Garrett had just asked what those two metal pots were in there, and I was about to say that was where they heated their food (seemed logical to me!) and before I could say it, Daddy told him that that’s where the prisoners went … potty. So, Garrett is cackling about that (as would any boy, right?)
On the 2nd floor was some really, really neat exhibits. Some were multimedia. The kids were really enamored with this bunk bed that the prisoners slept on.
And they really liked the little safes that were throughout the place!
This was Judge Parker’s court room.
Checking out the prisoner wagon. A biker man & woman were walking by and he went to take a pic of this, and when he held his phone up to snap the pic, it said “say cheese” right when he took it! I cracked up! I hadn’t heard that from a phone before!
Judge Parker’s Gallows… and Daddy explaining to them how it worked.
After we got home, we were just playing around and I took my camera out with me. Garrett wanted me to take some pics on the stump.
That was the only one I got. Then, he wanted to take some of me & Gina with my camera… I let him, but it only lasted a few minutes because Daddy needed some help finding a box. They were all blurry… but I enjoy those sweet moments when he wants to do that and I never ever say no!
Speaking of sweet moment... Geez.
After bathtime tonight, I asked for a quick pic in their jammies.
It really was the best Mother’s Day ever for me. We weren’t in any kind of rush. Just my perfect kind of day… playing in our fantastic yard, eating chips & salsa outside on a patio with my 3 of my absolute favorite people on the planet, being touristy here in our own town, and just playing with my kiddos.
