Mother’s Day 2012

It is already Mother’s Day… Man, this year is FLYING by. I need a pause button for a few days so I can catch my breath.

We had a pretty awesome day today. In fact, while I was putting Garrett to bed, he asked how my Mother’s Day was. Seriously, my 5 year old asked that. I told him it was actually the best one I’d ever had! He giggled so loud and said “really?”. Yep. Really. I think that sweet fella asked me at least a dozen times if I was having a great Mother’s Day today!

We got out in the yard around 11 or 12 and played some soccer…

Nanny & Poppa stopped by for a few minutes, and Poppa fixed up Garrett’s Spongebob fishing pole and he got to practice throwing it out in the yard (it was just the little pink plastic bobber thing that looks like a jellyfish).

05 12 13_9729

That was the first time he got it stuck in the tree… Haha!

05 12 13_9731

Different tree and it’s stuck again! Daddy had to help with this one…

05 12 13_9738

See it hanging there?

05 12 13_9740

And then Daddy had to actually bring out the ladder to unwrap the bobber from the limb!

05 12 13_9744

This girl was enjoying laying around in her stroller. She asked to get it out of the van, then proceeded to go inside & get a blanket & just relaxed for a bit while we all visited!

05 12 13_9747

After getting it hung too many times in the trees, we put some water in a bucket and moved him away from anything he could get it hooked on!

05 12 13_9748

Little Sister took a turn…

05 12 13_9759

… so Garrett went over to attempt to climb a tree… any tree… he could fine. He would walk from tree to tree & try to climb. No go, though. He couldn’t find any that were climbable.

05 12 13_9761

Next activity was some ball practice!

05 12 13_9772

I pitched to Kendall, then he pitched to me… And then Kendall wanted to pitch to Garrett to see if he could hit a pitched ball (& not just one off the tee). He hit about 80-85% of the balls pitched at him. Daddy & I were beyond impressed!

05 12 13_9773

And his face shows that he was having fun at it!

05 12 13_9774

This, though, doesn’t look like it’s having as much fun, huh? At age 9 1/2, Lily is still quite the flight risk. So, we tied her to the big tree and she laid in the shade. Despite the look on her face, she enjoyed it! Her nose was working overtime smelling all the outside smells!

05 12 13_9775

We got around about 3 and headed downtown to La Huerta to eat outside! Garrett told us several times that this is now his new favorite restaurant (I kept telling him he’s been there before, twice, but he didn’t remember). About half the outside tables had people at them, and these two were having fun on the stage. No one was watching them, which made me happy… as if them playing around wasn’t even out of the normal!

My & my 1st born…

Jump…

IMG_3348

Jump again…

IMG_3350

We took off on a walk to the Bass Reeves statue.

IMG_3351

And decided to keep walking into the National Park. It had this old covered wagon that said “US” on it, I’m assuming it was a mail carrier, maybe? I just saw the wagon wheel, and began singing “Rock me momma like a wagon wheel… rock me momma any way you feel… heeeeey, momma rock me”. So I chose that as the place for my pic with my two sweet G’s. Kendall took about 20 and this was my favorite. And also the only one where all 3 faces are looking at the camera!

IMG_3356

There are canons…

IMG_3359

Garrett is “shooting it” and Gina is doing the “BOOOOOM” sound effects and showing us how the bomb would fly. Haha!

IMG_3363

We went into the museum, which is located in the Barracks-Courthouse-Jail that was completed in 1846.

I saw this sign and KNEW I needed a pic of these two crazies in front of it… I told them to look mean and I got these faces!

IMG_3366

This is the jail cell… Garrett had just asked what those two metal pots were in there, and I was about to say that was where they heated their food (seemed logical to me!) and before I could say it, Daddy told him that that’s where the prisoners went … potty. So, Garrett is cackling about that (as would any boy, right?)

IMG_3368

On the 2nd floor was some really, really neat exhibits. Some were multimedia. The kids were really enamored with this bunk bed that the prisoners slept on.

IMG_3372

And they really liked the little safes that were throughout the place!

IMG_3373

This was Judge Parker’s court room.

IMG_3376

Checking out the prisoner wagon. A biker man & woman were walking by and he went to take a pic of this, and when he held his phone up to snap the pic, it said “say cheese” right when he took it! I cracked up! I hadn’t heard that from a phone before!

IMG_3381

Judge Parker’s Gallows… and Daddy explaining to them how it worked.

IMG_3387

After we got home, we were just playing around and I took my camera out with me. Garrett wanted me to take some pics on the stump.

05 12 13_9777

That was the only one I got. Then, he wanted to take some of me & Gina with my camera… I let him, but it only lasted a few minutes because Daddy needed some help finding a box. They were all blurry… but I enjoy those sweet moments when he wants to do that and I never ever say no!

Speaking of sweet moment... Geez.

IMG_3397

After bathtime tonight, I asked for a quick pic in their jammies.

IMG_3400

It really was the best Mother’s Day ever for me. We weren’t in any kind of rush. Just my perfect kind of day… playing in our fantastic yard, eating chips & salsa outside on a patio with my 3 of my absolute favorite people on the planet, being touristy here in our own town, and just playing with my kiddos.

Sara’s Graduation Party

This evening, we went to my cousin’s Sara’s college graduation dinner. She is headed to law school and I am positive that she will have absolutely nothing but success!

But first, let’s back up to this morning! Lily & I went for a walk…

IMG_3284

Our neighbor-man went to high school with K’s dad. Our neighbor is #12 below, and K’s dad is the big guy in the middle… #71. I thought that was about the most thoughtful thing that our neighbor could have done! It’s about 12x18, so it’s pretty good sized!

IMG_3288

Those 3 did a little bb target shooting…

05 11 13_9707

05 11 13_9708

Checking out their target to see where they hit!

05 11 13_9713

Daddy & Garrett with their target!

05 11 13_9721

We painted on the front porch while Daddy did his work out.

IMG_3293

She had held up her arm to show Garrett (that’s who she is looking at) and she said “look, Garrett! I made black! You wanna put some on your eyes like you do at baseball?”… She’s a nut!

IMG_3294

We headed to Poteau for the 6pm dinner. And they have a most beautiful pool at their home!

IMG_3298

My kids were loving it.

IMG_3299

So they just got in clothed. Why not, right? I had brought an extra change of clothes because I knew this would happen! I did not, however, bring an extra pair for me. I didn’t have to go in, but after we got there, I thought … MAN, I should have thought of that! Kinda looks like he’s trying to be Jesus walking into the water, huh?

IMG_3303

My & my sweet girl, taken by Granny…

IMG_3337

Papah & his two grand-girls, taken by Aunt Kelli…

IMG_3332

… and again…

IMG_3335

And, well… my kids & their cousins can’t go somewhere together & NOT have a wrestling match. It’s generally Garrett that initiates it. Ok, it’s always Garrett, but the other 3 sure aren’t far behind! I’ll just let these speak for themselves because they crack me up!

IMG_3309

IMG_3310

IMG_3311

IMG_3315

Now, it was time for all the family photos with our sweet graduate!

IMG_3318

Boy cousins…

IMG_3320

and girl cousins!

IMG_3322

Gina has recently really taken to Sara. And I love it! Gina would just look her up & down in her cap & gown!

IMG_3323

Gina proceeded to drag Sara to every single picture frame in the entire living room and say “who’s dat?”. Good for Gina that Sara was very patient with her!

IMG_3326

There was a fast pitch college softball game on, and I would catch Garrett watching it in between wrestling matches.

IMG_3324

But the rest of the crew was focused on the laptop! The Poteau Pirates were playing in the soccer state championship game. This was the moment that everyone found my nephew in the crowd! Poteau ended up winning in the 2nd overtime! Very good & exciting game!

IMG_3329

Garrett found a quiet spot by Aunt Norma to play on Uncle Jerry’s phone… (who, by the by, didn’t even know where his phone was! Haha!)

IMG_3330

Again, more Gina & Sara bonding time!

IMG_3331

Such a great evening with my amazing family and extended family. Yummy bbq dinner, and lots & lots of hilarious stories told! Kendall & I always leave these little gatherings saying how lucky we are to have such an amazing group of people surrounding us & our kiddos!!
